Here's How The Class Breaks Down:

Prep, prime, & prevent brush crime

Before we get this painting party started, let’s get our setup sorted. In Module 1, you’ll get the lowdown on the tools you'll actually use (no need to buy out the art store), how to prep your paper like a pro, and a few simple tips to keep your brushes in top shape.

Art lab: mixing colors & making marks

Welcome to the fun stuff - where colors come alive and brushes start to dance. In Module 2, you’ll learn how to mix vibrant shades, decode your tints vs. hues, and get the hang of how different brushes behave. Plus, you’ll learn how to thin or thicken your paint to nail that just-right texture.

Break it down to build it up

In Module 3, we’ll turn reference photos into quick, simple sketches—no overthinking, just smart strategy. With scenes like a lake, a glacier, and a serene cliffside, you’ll learn how to spot the essentials, skip the clutter, and build a strong foundation for your painting.

The underpainting secret

Time to add some color! In Module 4, you’ll bring your sketches to life with bold base layers using a simple color-blocking technique. We’ll focus on the three practice scenes from Module 3 - laying down just the first layer of paint before we move on to the full class projects.

Desert drama: your first full paint

You’ve practiced the pieces - now it’s time to put it all together. In Module 5, we’ll walk through a full landscape painting from sketch to final details. Using a stunning desert mountain scene, you’ll apply everything you’ve learned so far and finish with simple layering techniques to bring it to life. One painting, fully finished, and ready to show off!

The encore collection:
paint party x3

Because one finished painting just isn’t enough. In these bonus modules, you’ll work through three new full-scene landscapes—from lakeside calm to ocean blues to rolling green hills. Each project builds on the techniques you’ve already mastered, so you can keep the momentum going and end the course with a mini-gallery of your own work.

Meet Your Teacher

Rachel is an abstract painter and commission artist. She started drawing in high school and carried her budding interest to an art minor in college while she majored in nursing. After leaving the nursing field, she began painting more and that was when she first discovered her love of abstraction and color.

In 2020, she picked up the paintbrushes full-time and started creating work out of her spare room. Before too long, she had the opportunity to start creating artwork for local businesses and private clients. Rachel loves working with people to bring together her artistic skills with your vision to fill those empty walls!
